In this dialogue, Spencer Ward will join us in sowing paradigms to come. He will begin by inviting us to remember that we are all alive as ourselves, together in the basic tapestry of all the ways we live. Then we will contemplate the ethology of this tapestry—the ethology of ethology—what we could call ‘ether’. We will consider how every field (every age and acre) comes pre-unified in the ethereal concreteness of being alive together. And we will explore how we can bring the framework of permaculture to this universal soil to cultivate food for body and soul.

In this Zoom session for the Developmentalist group, Andrew Davis will present The Cosmic Call of Value: Five Propositions. Who are we? Why does anything at all exist? What is it that we should be up to in this universe? Through the elaboration of five propositions as “invitations for attention,” Andrew offers a philosophical reflection on value as a means of approaching an answer (or set of answers) to these questions.

Ecological Civilization moves away from modern industrial civilization. The signs of the times have demonstrated that it will be the next stage of human development. The 17th International Forum on Ecological Civilization and the 6th International Youth Forum on Ecological Civilization are taking place in this context. They seek to further promote ecological civilization through research and practice and effectively address current ecological crises facing global community. The forums are scheduled to be held on May 24 – May 25, 2024, in Claremont, CA.
This conference from the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science will weave together diverse interdisciplinary threads from the natural and social sciences and the humanities to consider the place and purpose of humanity in a context in which Earth might not be our only home and in which we may not be alone. The plenary speakers (leading scientists, religionists and ethicists) will draw on cutting-edge thinking in astrobiology, including emerging thought on “habitability,” and astro philosophy and theology to consider many questions.
In this event, Dr. Bruce Epperly, a public theologian skilled at sharing process ideas in digestible ways, will examine Whitehead’s and Teilhard’s ideas to show the ways in which their themes converge and examine how this synergy can help us plan strategies to join God's adventure of the universe in our own spheres.

In this conversation, Dr. Jeffery Long, a practitioner and theologian in the Vedanta tradition of Sri Ramakrishna as well as a scholar of process philosophy and Asian studies, and Swami Padmanabha, a leader and teacher in the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism, will share their thoughts on resonances between their two Hindu traditions and process thought.
