In this Pop-Up, Jared Morningstar will present Islamic process theologies, overviewing resonances between existing Muslim philosophies and cosmologies with contemporary process perspectives, and also exploring the emerging forms of explicit Islamic process theologies.
In this dialogue, Jared Morningstar will raise the topic of ecological concerns involved with the rise of generative artificial intelligence. Do AI technologies have the potential to solve major aspects of the climate crisis? What is the relationship between human intelligence, creativity, scientific discoveries, and artificial intelligence? How does AI connect with issues of green energy and humanity’s carbon footprint? We will explore these issues and more in this dialogue, developing a more sophisticated and cautious understanding of artificial intelligence in light of ecological thinking.

The intention behind the organization of this conference is to give scholars interested in the idealist aspects of Whitehead’s philosophy the opportunity to discuss and assess the relevance of the various strands of the idealist tradition to Whitehead’s metaphysics and to process metaphysics generally, as well as the relevance of process-relational philosophy to present day anti-materialist explorations in general metaphysics and philosophy of mind.
In both process thought and Schleiermacher’s philosophy, the essence of existence is not lifeless matter or dogmatic precepts. Rather, it is lived experience. In this lived experience, we are interconnected both as human beings and in fellowship with the Divine.
