Pando Days is the annual flagship program of Pando Populus that brings together educators from the arts, humanities, sciences, and technology to tackle the biggest sustainability challenges facing LA County. And asks them to inspire each other. And their students. And Angelenos. And the world. With ingenious new solutions and plans.

The 2021 season of Pando Days is currently underway, this time involving ten Southland colleges and universities with eleven separate initiatives.

Participating schools address challenges from the County’s sustainability plan that public agencies have identified as most urgent: transportation, shelter, community, and food.

The county goals for the transportation category are to:

  1. Create a zero-emission transportation system.
  2. A convenient, safe, clean, and affordable transportation system that enhances mobility and quality of life while reducing car dependency.
  3. Inclusive, transparent, and accountable governance that encourages participation in sustainability efforts, especially by disempowered communities.

Participating schools:

California State University, Long Beach

Mount Saint Mary’s University

Otis College of Art and Design
