In this event, Corinne Hummel will share practices of urban rooftop gardening, stemming from her many years of volunteer experience at urban farms in the Seattle, Washington area. As part of the work, Corinne helped to plan and coordinate a rooftop farm project with the goal of promoting more fully integrated and holistic local food systems based on reducing waste as well as the environmental impact of transporting food. She will explore the way these types of hyperlocal food systems provide opportunities for embodying interconnectedness, contrasting this with the dominant model of global ‘food swapping.’
